The BC Government has some great resources that your patients can use to exercise at home. Strength and Balance for Life (STABL) is a set of activity resources that support the well-being and independence of older adults by reducing their risk of falling.

In 2021, a clinical practice 'fall prevention' guideline intended for primary care practitioners, addresses the evidence-based approach for identification and management of falls risk among community-dwelling older adults.
This guideline facilitates individualized assessment for risk of falling and provides tools (including simple one-minute screening) to manage risk factors for falls among older adults. View the guideline.
The Ministry of Health developed the Age Forward: BC’s 50+ Health Strategy and 3-year Action Plan in 2024 as a proactive, targeted approach to ensure healthy aging, autonomy, and dignity among older adults in BC, with a strong focus on fall prevention. A 7-minute film that provides insight into falls in long term care settings. This film features interviews with older adults who have experienced falls, and the long-term care staff who work to prevent them.
